The Comfort Zone©
Heart of the Texas Hill Country

Our “sister 2crows” asked if we wanted to say a few words about what’s
been happening lately in Comfort for her web page. All that is still
on our minds is the same thing that most points around the San Antonio
area experienced – here’s a quick version of the Comfort view of the
latest Big Event.

“Rain Rain Went Away”. . . Finally. . . . Ordinarily we’re around here
talking about what a Hot July it is. No so this year. We have had the
100 year flood, that seems to come every 10 years. 35+ inches of rain
during the first two weeks of the month when usually we have 28 inches
per year, kept everyone talking about the “monsoon”.

We figured since we’d been high and dry for the last two months, the prayers were pretty heavy and must have got a whole lot of attention from Mother Nature. Symbolically, it was indeed a “Purifying Experience”, both for the land and for its inhabitants. Folks are still cleaning up as fences were down, bridges were out and a number of houses were flooded. We now have property with a flowing stream as well as new springs that have popped up – just wish a couple of them didn’t decide to show their faces in the middle of our driveway. It’s been very interesting. At least the trees were happy; those deep roots probably hadn’t felt a drop for many a year. We had a week long slumber party around here. Some of our “chosen kin” who lived too close to the river or creeks stayed up here on the hill with us. You know how that goes, we cooked and ate and cooked and ate and had plenty of time for lots of sharing and therapy sessions. Sometime I do believe this group could solve all the world’s problems, (if someone would just ask). We do such a good job with our own. Ya Ya sisterhood of Comfort at your service. We did get out in our 4 wheeler and riding down to town to see the power and size of The Guadalupe River was something we’ll never forget. Needless to say the 4th of July annual parade, Bar BQ and dance didn’t happen. It is re-scheduled for the end of this month, if the rumored tropical depression doesn’t decide to come visit Comfort.

It can’t be put in words, but the first two weeks in July were Big.
Yep, this was something Big, really Big as Oprah often says. No lives
were lost here, lots of extra work, but we were and are Blessed and we
were and are Grateful.

Sending Peace and Love to All,

The Comfort Family

Thanks to sister Mart Rhea for taking time for the Comfort Zone this edition.
